Rocky Mountain APTA hosted Discover Africa on March 12, 2008! Travel agents, tour operators and African travel suppliers converged at the Colorado History Museum for the final Discover Africa event of the 2008 APTA Discover Africa Roadshow. With over 80 people in attendance, the event was a resounding success. The RM APTA board, in true Colorado style, made this event come together by pitching in as a group.

Charity Report from Jackie Sathre

Our chapter selected to support Koins for Kenya, www.koinsforkenya.org from Jul through Dec 08.  Koins was founded by Bret Van Leeuwen who saw a need and helped to build this community in South East Kenya.  Bret does not believe in giving hand outs but giving people an opportunity to help build and work in their community.

Koins is based on education not only classroom but also self sustaining projects such as farming, raise vegetables for their use, water projects both damming and collection. They have a poultry project who's eggs provides much needed protein to the students.  Koins purchased over 2000 trees to begin a reforestation project.

Koins is unique because 100% of the funds goes towards Koins. With our donations from chapter members and our treasury we just sent off a check for  $450.00 to Koins.  Now our campaign begins to support Water for People from Jan through Jun 09.
