Rocky Mountain APTA hosted Discover Africa on March 12, 2008! Travel agents, tour operators and African travel suppliers converged at the Colorado History Museum for the final Discover Africa event of the 2008 APTA Discover Africa Roadshow. With over 80 people in attendance, the event was a resounding success. The RM APTA board, in true Colorado style, made this event come together by pitching in as a group.

Remember, mark your calendar for August 22, 2008 for the RM APTA chapter’s annual Braai. This FUN event is also a great opportunity to meet and network with our large chapter and local corporate members. This year will be lively as ever, this year with live African music!

The Rocky Mountain APTA chapter is thrilled to announce a very special Kenya fam. This program will take place in July, allowing agents an opportunity to experience the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Maasai Mara as well as two nights at the lovely Lamu archipelago. promoted Kenya Fam! RM APTA donated $250 to the Red Cross Kenya relief fund, and the check was hand delivered to the Mayor of Nairobi. This was initiated by the Sister Cities program, through which Denver and Nairobi are sister cities.

Charity Report from Jackie Sathre
For the past 3 years now our chapter has supported various Charities within Africa. This past year has been Madagascar- Wildlife Conservation Society. (Habitat: Conservation of Endangered Biodiversity). Members have an opportunity to give money in small or large numbers at each meeting and then our APTA treasury will match the amount collected up to $350.00.

We will begin researching a new charity to present to our chapter at one of the future meetings. To make it more interesting we will sell tickets to members and do a 50/50 split; 50% of what is collected will go to the charity and 50% will go to the member whose ticket is drawn.

There are so many worthwhile causes to support. The letters of thanks we receive speak great words of gratitude. Thanks to all of you for your past support.
